Gagliano's Late Goal Lifts Rangers

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (September 24, 2011) – The Rangers opened Landmark Conference play with a 2-1, win over Susquehanna this afternoon. Sophomore Brooke Gagliano (Freehold,N.J./Freehold Twp.) scored the game-winning goal with 3:56 remaining in the game.
Drew (5-3, 1-0 Landmark) controlled the game early, striking just five minutes into the contest. Hannah Rau (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale) registered her first point of the season when she found Meghan Howlett (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) for the first Ranger goal.
The Rangers sustained the lead until the half but not after unleashing 10 first-half shots compared to just two by the Crusaders.
Susquehanna (2-5, 0-1 Landmark) finally got on the scoreboard in the 47th minute on a goal from Nicole Solino to tie the game at one. The two teams remained scoreless for the next 19 minutes before Alexandra DeSousa (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern) connected with Gagliano for the eventual game-winner.
Goalkeeper Christiana Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) played all 70 minutes in the cage for the Rangers, facing just four shots. The win is the first against Susquehanna in the past three tries for the visiting Rangers.
Drew will come back to Ranger Stadium for a three-game home stand beginning on Tuesday when the Rangers host William Paterson at 7:00 p.m.
