Box Score GALLOWAY, N.J. (October 23, 2012) – The Drew University field hockey team dropped its third-straight game as they fell, 2-1 to Richard Stockton (5-12) this evening. The loss pulls the Ranger's record to 11-5 on the season.
The Ospreys were dominant from the get-go, scoring the game's first two goals and never looking back. Richard Stockton broke a scoreless tie in the seventh minute on a tap-in goal by Alison Paulus. The Ospreys were able to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break thanks to a score by Susie Balidemaj in the 24
th minute.
The Rangers only goal of the contest came off the stick of junior
Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) early on in the second half. Drew was awarded a penalty stroke after an Osprey foul in the circle. Gagliano notched her 15
th goal of the season on the conversion and has scored in four of the last five games for the Rangers.
After Gagliano cut the Stockton lead in half, the Rangers had only three of their next six shots go on goal. The Rangers got steady goalkeeping play from junior
CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) who made a game-high 10 saves on the night.
Stockton held a 17-11 advantage in shots on the game and drew 13 corners compared to just four by the Rangers.
Drew will be on the road again for the final game of the regular season on Friday when they take on Catholic. A win against the Cardinals will secure the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference tournament and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Game time is set for 4:30 in the nation's capital.
