Cardinals Complete Sweep of Rangers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 3, 2012) – A hot start by Catholic (16-5, 6-4 Landmark) was too much for the Drew (5-16, 3-7 Landmark) to overcome as the Cardinals came away with a 85-54 victory in the DeFour Center this evening. The Cardinals opened the game up with a 23-9 run and never trailed in the contest.

The Cardinals had the game well in hand with 13 minutes remaining in the game with a game-high 36-point lead. Catholic had five players in double figures and was led by Chris Kearny who went 5-for-7 from the floor for 12 points.  Nate Koenig, Darrell Carroll, Derek Puhalski and Steve Limberiou each had 10 points to pace the Catholic offense.

Dara Mc Keon (Dunboynne, Ireland/St. Peter's College) provided the initial spark on offense for the Rangers scoring all nine of his points in the first 20 minutes of play. Sophomore John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) was 4-of-9 from the floor, finishing with a team-high 11 points.

The Cardinals shot a blistering 48 percent from the floor for the game and outrebounded the Rangers 50-31. The hometown Cardinals held a lead of 30 or more for the final 14 minutes of the game.

The Rangers will be back in action tomorrow in their final regular season road game of the year in Towson, Md. against Goucher College. The men will tip at 7:30 p.m. in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
