Rangers Blank Crusaders in Season Finale

MADISON, N.J. (April 21, 2012) – For the fifth-straight year, the Rangers complete the regular season without a loss after a 9-0 win over Susquehanna (3-12, 2-5 Landmark) today on the Drew Tennis Courts. The Rangers have won all 35 of the Landmark regular season matches since entering the conference in 2008.

Drew (8-5, 7-0 Landmark) took all three doubles matches to start the afternoon including an 8-0 shutout at number three doubles by Adam Gerber (Montclair, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and Djedjy Hill (Haiti/Rancocas Valley).

In singles play the Rangers did not drop a game, sweeping all six matches. Senior Matt Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck) won his third straight singles match at the number two position, 6-0, 6-1. Junior Ryan Johnson (Hingham, Mass/Hingham) improved his singles winning streak to seven games with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Matthew Quadrini at number six singles.

The Rangers got straight-set, singles victories from Raul Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristo Rey), Gerber, Hill, and Matthew Imbo (Islip, N.Y./Islip) to complete their fifth shutout of the season.

The Rangers will match-up against Moravian in the first round of the Landmark Conference playoffs on Wednesday at home. A time will be announced on Monday by the Drew Athletic Department.
