The Rangers held the lead three times in the first half of the game and tied the game up twice with the last time coming with 5:00 minutes remaining in the first half. The Eagles did not surrender the lead for the final 23:55 of the contest but the Rangers were no further than seven points away.

With 5:45 left in the game sophomore Steve Hydzik (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) converted a 3-point play to make the score 44-39. On the next possession, Glass knocked down his second three-ball of the game to pull the Rangers with a point with 3:36 remaining in the game. The two teams exchanged baskets on the next two possessions until Brian Scholly put the Eagles up four points on a layup as the shot clock expired with 1:22 left in the contest.
