Rangers Top Union, Off to Best Start Since 1992

Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Drew University field hockey team is off to its best start since 1992, after defeating Union College, 2-0 tonight on the road. The Rangers have won all seven of their games this season while the Dutchwomen fall to 1-5.

Both of the Rangers goals came in the second half, beginning with sophomore Amber De Marco (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) tallying her first goal of her career in the 53rd minute. Sam Barcia (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) got in on the scoring action a little under 14 minutes later, with her Landmark Conference leading 11th of the season.

Goalkeeper CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) kept the Dutchwomen off the scoreboard with her second shutout of the year. The senior made five stops, improving her save percentage to .885.

Drew outshot the Dutchwomen, 32-13 and had a 12-9 advantage in penalty corners. Union goalkeeper Molly McCune made 21 saves in a losing effort.

Tonight's game was a makeup from the original September 11 game that was postponed due to weather. The Rangers open up Landmark Conference play against Catholic on Saturday in a rematch of last year's league championship game.
