SCRANTON, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2015) – The Drew University field hockey team was blanked at The University of Scranton, 5-0, in Landmark Conference play on Wednesday evening.
Freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Callaghan made nine saves in the setback. As per usual, Callaghan had some backup from sophomore defender
Michele Pozyc, who notched her Division III-leading 16
th defensive save of the season. She now sits one away from tying her own school and Landmark record of 17 in a season, set during her rookie year in 2014.
The Royals (12-1, 3-1 Landmark) got an early start with a goal in the second minute of play, and scored again in the 22
nd to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Three more tallies in the second half allowed Scranton to take home victory at home.
The Rangers managed 11 penalty corners, including four in a three-minute span around the 50
th minute of the contest. Senior forward
Kirby Clark took the Rangers' shot on goal, forcing a save in the 20
th minute.
The Rangers continue conference play on the road Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Goucher College before the home stretch kicks off with three of the last four games at home.
