Field Hockey Suffers Setback at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2015) – The Drew University field hockey team was blanked at The University of Scranton, 5-0, in Landmark Conference play on Wednesday evening.

Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Callaghan made nine saves in the setback. As per usual, Callaghan had some backup from sophomore defender Michele Pozyc, who notched her Division III-leading 16th defensive save of the season. She now sits one away from tying her own school and Landmark record of 17 in a season, set during her rookie year in 2014.

The Royals (12-1, 3-1 Landmark) got an early start with a goal in the second minute of play, and scored again in the 22nd to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Three more tallies in the second half allowed Scranton to take home victory at home.

The Rangers managed 11 penalty corners, including four in a three-minute span around the 50th minute of the contest. Senior forward Kirby Clark took the Rangers' shot on goal, forcing a save in the 20th minute.

The Rangers continue conference play on the road Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Goucher College before the home stretch kicks off with three of the last four games at home.
