TOWSON, M.D. (March 28, 2015) – Visiting Goucher College on the road, the Drew University men's lacrosse team fell to the Gophers by a score of 10-4 in Landmark Conference play.
Sophomore attacker
Ben Ludeman led the way in shooting, trying four, and scoring one. Sophomore defender
Michael Lloyd scooped up a team-high five ground balls and Senior midfielder
Robert Hart caused a team-high three turnovers.
Sophomore midfielder
Tom Cotroneo scored his sixth of the year while collecting three ground balls and freshman goalkeeper turned D-man
Greg Swenson collected his first career goal.
Senior midfielder
Hutch Fisher ripped home the Rangers (1-6, 0-3) first contribution of the half with seven minutes to play in the second quarter. Goucher (7-3, 2-1) responded with six goals of their own going into halftime.
Drew set the tone for the second half when Ludeman converted on a pass from junior midfielder
Steven Cola to notch his tenth goal of the year.
Cotroneo pitched in a goal in the tail end of the 3
rd quarter to narrow the deficit to four. Swenson converted his first career goal in the 11
th minute of the fourth quarter, making the score 8-4 Goucher. Goucher would notch two more and bring the contest to a close.
Drew's sophomore goalkeeper
Teddy Sweeney made 16 saves while facing a barrage of 44 Goucher shots.
The Rangers will remain on the road for a matchup with Centenary College In Hackettstown, N.J. on Tuesday, March 31
st at 4:00 p.m. Drew will return home to square off against The University of Scranton for a conference tilt slated for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, April 4
th.
