HUNTINGDON, N.J. (March 28, 2015) – The Drew University softball team dropped both ends of a Landmark Conference doubleheader at Juniata College, falling 6-0 and 8-5 on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Rangers (3-13, 0-4) managed three hits in each of the conference setbacks. Freshman center fielder
Heather Ronchi was 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Game 2.
Â
A wild second inning in Game 2 saw 11 total runs scored. The Rangers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after five Juniata errors extended the inning, leading to Ronchi's two-RBI double to left field.
Â
The Eagles (5-9, 2-0) responded with a big frame of their own in the bottom half of the second. Three hits and two Rangers errors led to six runs and a 7-5 lead.
Â
Juniata added an insurance run in the third for the 8-5 advantage, one they would not relinquish en route to the Landmark doubleheader sweep.
Â
The Rangers return to action on Wednesday, April 1 at St. Joseph's (L.I.) College for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
