Seniors Shine in Women's Lax Win Over Elizabethtown

MADISON, N.J. (April 11, 2015) – A trio of four-year players from the Drew University women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in style with a 21-6 victory over Landmark Conference foe Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

Senior attacker Nikki Kleiman and senior midfielder Krysta Cento each totaled nine points in the rout, while senior defender Sam DeSimone picked up a ground ball and led the backline to a dominant performance and an important conference victory. Cento's nine points came on a six-goal, three-assist performance, while Kleiman split her productivity between scoring and passing with five goals and four assists.

The Rangers (7-4, 2-2) moved into the fourth and final playoff position with two Landmark games remaining on the 2015 schedule. Drew made quick work of the Blue Jays (4-7, 1-3) on Saturday, scoring 13 consecutive goals from 26:49 to 9:06 in the first half to take a 14-1 lead. Kleiman had a hat trick by the 24:30 mark, and Cento had her hat trick by 16:30. Sophomore attacker Morgan Mason added three of her own during the dominant period, while two from freshman Maddie Spiess and one each from sophomore attacker Anna Fiorini and freshman attacker Sage Johnson aided the 15-5 lead at halftime.

Elizabethtown got one back to start the second half, but it was all Rangers for the rest of the contest as the home squad scored six unanswered to end the game.

Fiorini netted two more to complete her hat trick, and Cento tallied three more. Sophomore attacker Theresa Shafron scored her seventh of the season with 9:54 remaining to give Drew its 20 goal.

Kleiman filled out the stat sheet on Saturday with two ground balls and six draw controls to add on to her school record career total. Sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Minogue made eight saves in net to go with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Sophomore Gionna Marotta and freshmen Nicole Kinney and Juliana Strazulo each scooped up three ground balls apiece in the triumph.

The Rangers play their final home Landmark Conference game on Wednesday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m., when The University of Scranton visits Ranger Stadium.
