MADISON, N.J. (Jan. 27, 2016) – The Drew University women's basketball team fell behind early to No. 5 and undefeated The University of Scranton and couldn't quite surmount the early deficit in a 73-42 loss on Wednesday night in Baldwin Gymnasium.
Â
Junior guards
Hannah Miller and
Sam Lane dropped nine points apiece, as the Rangers dropped to 7-12 overall and 4-6 in the Landmark Conference. Sophomore forward
Ally Raulf came two rebounds shy of her career-high with eight. Junior guard
Kati Yext drilled her only two basket attempts of the game, both of which came from three-point land.
Â
Scranton's game-opening 15-2 run laid the groundwork for the game, providing the Royals with a cushion that would take them all the way to the final buzzer.
Â
The final basket of the game was drained by freshman forward
Sarah Henig when she put back an offensive rebound. The play logged the Point Pleasant native the first two points of her career.
Â
Conference play and this Ranger home stand rolls on as Drew hosts Juniata College on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 p.m.
