MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 12, 2016) – Freshman midfielder
Audrey Carr scored both the game-tying and sudden death game-winning goals as the Drew University field hockey team defeated The University of Scranton in overtime, 2-1, in Landmark Conference play on Wednesday evening at Ranger Stadium.
By the Numbers: The Rangers improve to 3-8 and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference, while the Royals drop to 4-9 and 1-3. This marks Drew's second overtime victory of the season in three tries, and the second in which Carr played the hero in extra time.
Top Performers: Carr's clutch goals accounted for her second and third of her rookie campaign. Junior defender
Michele Pozyc assisted Carr's first goal, senior midfielder
Huma Sheikh had the helper on the overtime game-winner, and sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Callaghan made eight saves to preserve the dramatic win.
Turning Point: Four minutes into overtime, Pozyc started a transition with a long hit out of the Drew backfield. Sheikh settled the ball at midfield and quickly realized the opportunity ahead. She slotted the ball between the Scranton defense to a streaking Carr on the right side to spring a breakaway.
One-on-one with the Royals' goaltender, Carr drew the goalie out to the top of the circle before blasting a shot under the pads and into the back of the cage for the walk-off winner.
Other Highlights: Down 1-0 after a Scranton goal in the 56
th minute, it took Carr and the Rangers under five minutes to equalize. Drew capitalized on its only penalty corner of the contest, finding Pozyc at the top of circle for a hard-paced insert. Carr was well positioned in front of the goalie and defense to deflect the ball into the net to tie the game.

th minute. The Royals also took 14 penalty corners compared to Drew's one.
