MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 22, 2016) – The Drew University men's and women's swimming and diving teams triumphed over King's (Pa.) College at the F.M. Kirby Pool on Saturday afternoon.

By The Numbers: The women defeated the Monarchs by a score of 106-88, while the men defeated King's with a score of 105.5-91.5. Both the men's and women's squads for Drew improve their overall record to 1-1.

Top Performers: Freshman Mal Vishwanath for the second straight day won all of her heats in convincing fashion, including a win in the women's 1000-yard freestyle in which she finished over a minute before her opponents. Drew continued their long distance domination with freshman Garrett Pilkington taking first in the men's 1000-yard freestyle finishing 13 seconds before the nearest opponent.

There was a rather unusual finish in the men's 100-yard freestyle, where freshman Jack Mahoney tied for first against opponent Dan Weekes with a time of 48.75.

Other Highlights: Junior Jenny Stein was victorious in the women's 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle and was part of a first place relay team in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior captain Jordan Jessup collected a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Freshman Michael Ma grinded out a first place victory in the 200-yard individual medley. The Rangers also took home first place points in the men's and women's 200-yard butterfly from freshmen Jeremy Bradford and Katie Jefferson.

Coaches Corner: Head Coach Rich Munson collected his first ever win at home for both the women's and men's teams and his first career men's victory as the head coach for Drew swimming and diving.

"Everyone is working harder and harder on a day-to-day basis, we are looking to get better each meet," Munson said.
