TOWSON, Md. (Oct. 29, 2016) – The Drew University women's soccer team concluded its 2016 season with a 3-1 setback at Goucher College in the Landmark Conference finale on Saturday.
By the Numbers: The Rangers' 2016 campaign ends with a 6-10-1 record and 2-5 mark in league play, while Goucher improves to 7-9-1 and 2-5.
Top Performers: Sophomore forward
Meghan McDermott scored her second goal in the last four games and senior goalkeeper
Ryan Jackson capped her career with five saves in the second half.
Turning Point: The Gophers struck first early in just the fourth minute, putting Drew in an early hole. McDermott answered in the 32
nd minute, and despite another dangerous shot by freshman
Jessica Meagher in the 44
th minute that required saving, the score remained tied heading into halftime. Goucher pulled ahead for good in the 55
th minute and added an insurance goal in the 77
th.
Stat Sheet: Goucher held the advantage in shots, 18-5, with a similar edge in shots on target (9-3). The Goucher goalie was forced to make two saves, and the Gophers dominated in the corner kick department, 7-1.
