MADISON, N.J. (Nov. 29, 2016) – The Drew University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is putting its fundraising muscle behind the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.

To raise money for the Association, the 40-person Committee is hosting a series of events through May that will also unite various campus groups. For example, in mid-November, the group raised funds during the Rose City Classic basketball tournament. The next event is Dec. 5 during the
Prison Ball tournament.

"Raising funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis is important to SAAC because it impacts many of our student-athletes and community members," said
Christa Racine, the Senior Woman Administrator in Drew Athletics and an advisor to the Committee.

Founded in 1970, the
Multiple Sclerosis Association of America improves lives through vital services and support. Its CEO is Drew alum Gina Ross Murdoch C'89, who studied political science, business management and French as an undergraduate.

So, the fundraising effort serves a dual purpose, in that it strengthened the ties between Drew and Ross Murdoch, who's also a donor and mentor for the school's
Civic Scholars program.

"I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Drew University and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for selecting our organization as the beneficiary of these important fundraising efforts," said Ross Murdoch. "Funds raised will be used to provide much-needed programs and services for people affected by MS."

She added that she's "proud that Drew University has chosen to raise awareness as well as vital funds for the MS community. I look forward to attending these upcoming events and engaging again with the Drew community."
Ross Murdoch plans to attend MS Awareness Night at the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Dec. 8 with her husband Robert Murdoch C'88. Attendees will be encouraged to wear red and blue – MSAA's official colors – to the games and 100 percent of the evening's admission will be donated to the Association. All fans wearing red and blue to the games will receive a free Rangers t-shirt.
