WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 3, 2016) – The Drew University women's basketball team lost a slim halftime lead at The Catholic University of America on Saturday before dropping the 2016-17 Landmark Conference opener, 71-60, on the road.
By the Numbers: Catholic overcame a seven-point deficit to remain undefeated at 6-0, while Drew falls to 2-4 overall. It was the first Landmark game for both teams.
Top Performers: Senior guard
Hannah Miller continues to lead the Rangers in scoring with her third straight 20+ point game. She scored 23 on 9-of-14 shooting with four assists against the Cardinals. Senior forward
Sam Lane added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Turning Point: Drew led 34-32 at half, but Catholic quickly erased the Rangers' advantage with a 22-10 third period. Trailing for the entire fourth period, Drew resorted to fouling down the stretch, where Catholic improved its free throw shooting to hold its lead for the home victory.
Highlights
• A 3-point play by Miller and a 3-pointer by freshman guard
Hailey Stine started a 10-1 run in the first period to help Drew take a 16-9 lead.
• Senior forward
Ryan Jackson scored four straight points midway through the second period, sparking a 7-0 run capped by a Miller 3-pointer for a 30-21 lead with 3:57 to play in the first half.
• Catholic scored the next eight points on the way to a 34-32 halftime deficit thanks to a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
• The Cardinals took their first lead since 5:12 in the first period with a layup to go up 38-37 with 7:13 on the clock in the third.
• Following another Miller three to put Drew up 42-40, Catholic answered with a 14-2 run to take a 54-44 lead at the end of three periods.
• The Rangers came out shooting in the fourth, making their first three attempts from beyond the arc to pull within three, 58-55.

• Turnovers made the difference in the second half, especially in the third period, when Drew turned the ball over nine times compared to Catholic's one. By game's end, Catholic scored 35 points off 27 Ranger turnovers.
• Drew shot well from the field with a 46% mark overall and 44% (7-of-16) from three. Catholic, however, held a slight lead in rebounding (40-35) and second chance points (12-5).
