Doubles Sweep Leads to 6-3 Win at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 17, 2016) – The Drew University men's tennis team picked up a Landmark Conference victory on Sunday by defeating Susquehanna University 6-3 on the road.
 
Top Performers: A trio of Rangers (6-8, 1-4) was involved in victories on both the singles and doubles ends of the dual match. Freshman Vineet Vemulapally topped his No. 1 singles opponent 6-2, 6-2 before teaming with freshman Will Morrison for an 8-3 win at first doubles. Senior Adam Clark and freshman Chris Morville won their No. 2 doubles match 8-6, then went on to both win their singles matches in straight sets.
 
Turning Point: The Rangers were staked with a 3-0 lead in the dual match thanks to a sweep of doubles play, finished off by the L&L Boys. Juniors Cole Leckburg and Nick Lantieri won at third doubles, 8-6.
 
Other Highlights: Clark clinched the match by gaining the Rangers' fifth win at the No. 2 singles spot. He made quick work of his Susquehanna opponent by way of a 6-1, 6-0 score. Morville won at sixth singles 6-3, 6-4.

Weekend Recap: At Juniata College on Saturday, Clark forced a third set by winning a thrilling second set in a tiebreaker, 8-6. The senior fell in the superbreaker 10-7 and the Rangers would end up falling to the Eagles, 9-0, as Juniata improved to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in conference.
 
Up Next: The Rangers host a Landmark Conference dual match against The United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday, April 20 at 4:00 p.m. at the Drew Tennis Complex.
