Strazulo Nets Hat Trick in 12-8 Setback to Royals

SCRANTON, Pa. (April 20, 2016) -- The Drew University women's lacrosse team fell just behind the University of Scranton, 12-8, on Wednesday afternoon in a Landmark Conference contest on the road.

Top Performers: Sophomore midfielder Juliana Strazulo netted her sixth hat trick of the season with a goal in the 21st minute of the second half. The score brought Drew within one point of a tie with the Royals. Strazulo's performance as reigning conference Player of the Week marked the seventh straight game in which she has scored two or more goals. Also contributing was sophomore midfielder Maddie Spiess who pitched in two goals, including Drew's first score of the game. Spiess is now tied for the team lead with 41 goals.

Turning Point: After Strazulo made the score 7-6, Royals in the second, Scranton exploded into a 4-1 scoring run that stretched the gap too far for the Rangers to close.

Other Highlights: Junior midfielder Morgan Mason assisted on four goals in the setback, setting her high water mark on the year for assists in a game. She was the only Ranger to collect even one assist on the day. The Rangers converted three free position shots to Scranton's five, and caused 12 turnovers to the Royals' eight.

Up Next: Landmark Conference play rolls on as Drew travels to face Moravian College in the final road game of the year. The tilt is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd.
