Strazulo Pushes Drew & Landmark Records at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (April 23, 2016) – Sophomore midfielder Juliana Strazulo stuffed the stat sheet in the Drew University women's lacrosse team's 17-12 victory at Moravian College (6-8) on Saturday afternoon, further establishing a new program and Landmark Conference single-season record in the process.

Ranger Record: Strazulo picked up nine caused turnovers, which is one short of the single-game program record, to extend the Drew season record to 60 with the previous record being 45 set in 1999. She also pushes the new Landmark Conference single-season record to 60 after surpassing the previous mark of 47 earlier in the week.

Top Performers: Strazulo added a goal, three assists, 10 ground balls (fifth all-time for a single game) and eight draw controls to make up a ridiculous stat line in the victory. Pacing the Rangers' (6-10) attack was junior midfielder Morgan Mason and sophomore midfielder Nicole Kinney, who each scored four goals apiece with Mason also adding four assists. Junior attacker Theresa Shafron and sophomore midfielder Maddie Spiess each picked up a hat trick with three goals.

Turning Point: Kinney had her hat trick within the game's opening 10 minutes. She opened the scoring just four minutes in and added a second goal exactly a minute later for the early 2-0 advantage. She produced her third goal with 20 minutes to play in the half for a 5-2 Drew lead, the first of a three-goal run that had the Rangers up comfortably 7-2 midway through the period.

They Greyhounds, who re-launched its varsity program this season and will join the Landmark Conference next season, put together a four-goal run spanning halftime to cut the Drew lead to 8-7 with 25 minutes left in the game. The Rangers answered quickly with a tally by Mason, the first of seven straight Drew goals to put the game firmly back in control of the Rangers.

Other Highlights: Sophomore attacker Sage Johnson and freshman attacker Mia Campanale both scored in the victory, with Johnson's tally putting Drew up 10-7 during the critical seven-goal run in the second half. Junior attacker Anna Fiorini totaled three assists on the day, and freshman goalkeeper Miranda Czymek made eight saves for her fourth win of the year.

Up Next: The Rangers' postseason hopes rest on a "win-and-in" game for in the regular season finale on Saturday, April 30 at noon against Goucher College at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers can clinch the No. 4 seed with a victory and travel to either Catholic or Scranton in the Landmark semifinals. Goucher is also alive for the No. 4 seed and can clinch with a win on Saturday.
