MADISON, N.J. (April, 9, 2016) -- Sophomore midfielder Maddie Spiess set a career-high with six goals in the Drew University women's lacrosse team's first conference victory of the year, 18-6, over The United States Merchant Marine Academy on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

Top Performers: Spiess added to her team-high season goal total, exploding for a career-high six in the victory. The five-goal outburst tied a career-high for a single game for Mason. Drew's second highest scorer, junior midfielder Morgan Mason netted five goals of her own, getting to 27 on the year. Drew's third hat trick came from sophomore midfielder Juliana Strazulo, her third three-goal game of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Miranda Czymek picked up her first career win in net with five saves.

Turning Point: Drew's scoring barrage got underway when Mason scored her 25th goal of the year just 30 seconds into the game. The Rangers never looked back after the score.

Other Highlights: Also scoring were junior attacker Theresa Shafron, sophomore attacker Sage Johnson and sophomore midfielder Nicole Kinney.
