MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 24, 2016) — The Drew University field hockey dropped the Landmark Conference premiere on Saturday, 5-0, to the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays, who fell a half shy of the conference title last year.
Top Performers: Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryann Callaghan made 12 saves in the setback, including several flurries that forced her to stack, split and kick her pads to reject the Blue Jays' tries. Junior midfielder
Madi Sheetz took two shots, one on goal.
Turning Point: E-Town pulled ahead in the 12
th minute when a multi-forward attack highlighted by crisp ball movement resulted in a goal. The Blue Jays wouldn't look back from there.
Stat Sheet: The Rangers put together a run at the very end of regulation, lining up for three corners to add to six total. Junior defender
Michele Pozyc tallied a defensive save, as did sophomore defender
Kate Todero.
By the Numbers: The setback has Drew starting the Landmark season 0-1. The Rangers home record now sits at 1-4.
