CHESTER, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2016) – Back-to-back goals in the first half were enough to push host Widener University past the Drew University field hockey team, 2-0, on a balmy Wednesday evening outside Philadelphia.
Â
By The Numbers: The Pride improve to 2-1 on the season while Drew remains winless in three tries. Wednesday marked the Ranger's first road contest after the season opening two-game tournament at Ranger Stadium last weekend.
Â
Top Performers: Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryann Callaghan was busy again on Wednesday, turning away seven shots off the sticks of Widener. On the opposite end, junior forward
Madi Sheetz fired two shots, one of which required a save by the Pride keeper.
Â
Old Tricks: Drew and the Landmark Conference's all-time leader in defensive saves, junior defender
Michele Pozyc, has picked up where she left off. With another DS tonight, she now has one in each game this season to extend her record to 38. The junior also took a shot in the setback at Widener.
Â
Up Next: The Blue & Green return to Madison to host Keuka College on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Ranger Stadium.
