Multiple Comeback Attempts Thwarted by Moravian

MADISON, N.J. (Jan. 11, 2017) – The Drew University women's basketball team lost a hard fought battle to visiting Moravian College, 76-66, in a Landmark Conference game in Baldwin Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
 
By the Numbers: Drew drops to 5-8 overall with a 4-5 record in Baldwin, and 1-2 in league play. Moravian improves to 11-3 on the season and has put together a four-game win streak. The Greyhounds remain unbeaten in the Landmark at 3-0.
 
Top Performers
• Senior forward Ryan Jackson notched her third career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, to go with three assists and three blocked shots.
• Senior guard Hannah Miller finished with 17 points and three rebounds, while senior forward Sam Lane contributed 10 points.
• Senior guard Courtney Trzasko made 3-of-4 from beyond the arc for her nine points, and junior point guard Michaela Keegan led the team with four assists.
 
Turning Point: Moravian jumped out to an early double-digit lead less than 10 minutes into the first half with the help of their star player, senior Camille McPherson. The forward had 22 points at halftime on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. The Rangers were able to get within five points on a 7-0 run highlighted by selfless passing bridging the third and fourth periods. After Moravian stretched the lead back out to 13, Drew again cut it to five with 2:36 to play on back-to-back three-pointers by Miller. Three Ranger turnovers and a 6-0 run for the Greyhounds put the game out of reach for Drew down the stretch.
 
Highlights
• Jackson collected 11 of her points on 5-7 shooting from the field in the first half alone.
• The Ranger first got back within five points 3:08 left in the third period. Lane and Jackson took turns feeding passes to Raulf under the basket for easy lay-ins, and Miller completed the 7-0 run with an old fashioned three-point play.
• Miller scored five of Drew's final seven points in the third to trail just 56-50 heading into the final period.
• Two Raulf free throws preceded Miller's clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter to aid in Drew's 8-0 run to cut the Moravian lead to 68-63 with 2:36 remaining.
 
Stat Sheet: There were 12 total three-point field goals by both teams, six for Moravian and six for Drew. Moravian won the rebounding battle, 42-27. Seventy points were scored in the paint on the night, 36 for Moravian and 34 for Drew. Moravian committed 22 turnovers to Drew's 17. The Greyhounds collected 18 bench points to Drew's 11.
