Balanced Attack Leads Drew to Win at Elizabethtown

MADISON, N.J. (Jan. 18, 2017) – Five Rangers scored in double-figures as the Drew University men's basketball team scored a 69-64 victory at Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference tilt on Wednesday evening.

By the Numbers: The Rangers move their overall record to 9-7 with a 3-2 mark in Landmark play, while improving to 3-4 away from home. The Blue Jays fall to 3-12 and 0-5 in conference. Drew has won two straight and four of its last five.

Top Performers
• Junior guard Yonathan Napoleon and senior guard Joey Feinberg each scored 11 points, while junior forward Chatham Studer, sophomore guard Darius Reiter and freshman guard Riley Collins all added 10.
• Six Rangers scored at least six points in the balanced attack, with sophomore guard Dan Roibal chipping in eight and sophomore Nate Aldrich netting six to go with a game-high nine rebounds.

Turning Point: On a key possession with less than two minutes, Napoleon hit a decisive three-pointer as the shot clock nearly expired on the Rangers. His trey gave the Rangers a seven-point cushion with 1:23 in the second half. The Jays hit a shot down low, but it was too late as Drew was able to hang on for the 69-64 win.

Highlights
• Drew led 13-6 out of the gate through the first four minutes, hitting three early three-pointers. Reiter hit a pair and Napoleon drilled another. A dry spell from the field allowed Elizabethtown to close the gap and eventually take the lead.
• Napoleon extended the lead back to seven on the first shot of the second half, but a 6-0 run from the Blue Jays made it just a one-point game.
• The game remained no more than a two-possession affair until Collins drained a three to put Drew back up 66-58 with 3:30 left. E-town hit back-to-back layups for Elizabethtown that closed the gap to just four.

Stat Sheet
• Elizabethtown held a slight edge in rebounds (35-33), but commanded points in the paint by a 34-20 margin.
• Drew relied again on the jumper and saw it pay off at a 48 percent clip from the field. The Rangers also delivered at the free throw line with an 80 percent mark (12-of-15).
• The Blue Jays protected the ball well with just six turnovers compared to Drew's 12.

Up Next: The Rangers look to add to their win streak when they host Susquehanna University in another important Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4:00 p.m. in Baldwin Gymnasium.
