SCRANTON, Pa. (Jan. 21, 2017) – The Drew University men's swimming and diving team defeated The University of Scranton in a dual meet for the first time as opponents in the Landmark Conference, and first time overall since the 2000-01 season.

By the Numbers: The Rangers edged the Royals, 136-126, to improve to 5-2 overall in their first meet since the record-breaking Ranger Invitational in early December. The women dropped their dual to Scranton, 159-100, and fell to 4-3 overall on the season.

Top Performers
MEN
• The men were paced by freshman
Jack Mahoney, who won both the 200-yard and 50-yard freestyle events. He also placed second out of six in the 100-yard freestyle, missing the top spot by three-tenths of a second.
• Freshman
Michael Ma also won a pair of races in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, clearing the field by seven seconds in the 200.

WOMEN
• Freshman
Mal Vishwanath was a double winner in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle races in dominating fashion. She won by six seconds in the 200 and by 28 seconds in the 500.
• Freshman
Stephanie Cushman joined her classmate as a winner of two races on Saturday, taking both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke. No one was close to her in the 200, out-touching everyone by nearly eight seconds.

• The all-freshman men's 200-yard medley relay team of Ma,
John Rinald,
Ryan Underwood and Mahoney launched the meet with a thrilling win. The Rangers touched the wall at 1:40.57, just fifteen-hundreds ahead of the Royals.
• Drew dominated the distance events during the dual meets with freshman
Jamie Riffel taking the women's in 11:32.87 and freshman
Garrett Pilkington winning the men's with his time of 10:38.22.
• Freshman
Katie Jefferson was decisively victorious in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:20.59, about 12 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Scranton. Right after, freshman
Jeremy Bradford won the men's 200 Fly.
• Sophomore
Mack Fox took the men's 500 Free, just ahead of Pilkington to make it a 1-2 finish for Drew for 13 total dual meet points.
• Freshman
John Rinald triumphed in the 200-yard individual medley.
