Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Susquehanna Tops Drew 3-0

MADISON, N.J. -  After playing five out of six on the road, the Drew University field hockey team returned to Ranger Stadium for the start of a three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon.  The Rangers (0-12, 0-5 Landmark) were unable to come away with a win, however, as Susquehanna (7-7, 2-3 Landmark) earned a 3-0 victory.

Susquehanna got on the board at the 15-minute mark, as Hunter Pitman fired a shot from the left corner and past Drew goalkeeper Ryann Callaghan (Fountain Valley, Calif.).  The Rangers had a chance to tie it late in the first half, but Camryn Koch's (Hellertown, Pa.) attempt off a penalty corner was blocked.  The River Hawks then added a pair of goals in the second half to complete the 3-0 triumph.

Callaghan (0-10) was credited with 12 saves, including 10 in the second half.  Michele Pozyc (Clark, N.J.) made a pair of defensive saves, while Kate Todero (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) also notched a defensive save.  Madi Sheetz (Macungie, Pa.) tallied three shots, and Koch recorded two shots.

Pitman, Cayla Spatz and Julia Hasicoglu all scored for Susquehanna, which held a 28-5 advantage in shots.  Emily DiGaetano (5-5) earned the shutout win for the River Hawks.

The Rangers are back in action next Saturday, when they take on No. 12 Catholic (11-2, 5-0 Landmark) at 1 p.m.  The Cardinals have already secured a place in the Landmark Conference Tournament.
