#11 Drew Closes Out Unbeaten Regular Season

MADISON, N.J. – Needing a win to close out the first undefeated regular season in program history, the 11th-ranked Drew University men's soccer team left little doubt as to what the outcome would be on Saturday afternoon.  The Rangers (17-0-1, 7-0-0 Landmark) scored three times in the first five minutes en route to their 14th consecutive victory, a 4-1 triumph over Goucher (6-7-5, 1-4-2 Landmark) at Ranger Stadium.

With the win, Drew wrapped up the second unbeaten, untied regular season in Landmark Conference history.  Elizabethtown went 8-0-0 in conference play during the 2015 campaign.  It was also the Rangers' first time finishing the regular season without a conference loss since going 6-0-1 in 2008.

After being introduced alongside his fellow seniors prior to the game, Benjamin Audi (Paramus, N.J.) found the back of the net just 2:27 into the contest.  Max Correa (Belleville, N.J.) threaded a pass thru the Goucher defense to the far post, where a wide-open Audi put it into the lower right corner for a 1-0 Drew lead.

"It was a good way to start the game," Audi said.  "Max got the ball out wide, and I just found the space in behind where he played it."

The Rangers struck again 37 seconds later, when Tyler Kwaak (Hillsborough, N.J.) scored the first of his two goals in the contest.  Drew's third shot of the game resulted in its third goal, as Correa sent a cross to Aidan Cserhat (Taos, N.M.), who headed in his league-leading 18th tally of the season.  Kwaak then made it 4-0 off a pass from Andy Imoh (Sugar Land, Texas) in the 14th minute, giving the Rangers a 4-0 lead.

Goucher pulled within 4-1 in the 42nd minute, when Brandon Cohen snuck one by Drew goalkeeper Jason Adamo (Roxbury, N.J.).  It was the first goal allowed by Adamo in a conference game this season, and it would prove to be the only one, as the Rangers won it by a 4-1 margin.

Adamo (17-0-1) made five saves before being relieved by Jake Marlowe (Parsippany, N.J.), who recorded three saves over 16 minutes in his first collegiate action.  Goucher goalkeeper Daniel Hendry (5-6-5), meanwhile, posted six saves.

Top-seeded Drew hosts fourth-seeded Susquehanna (6-9-2, 3-3-1 Landmark) in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Tournament at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.  The winner faces either second-seeded Elizabethtown (10-6-1, 4-2-1 Landmark) or No. 3 Catholic (7-7-4, 4-2-1 Landmark) next Saturday in the championship game.  Drew notched a 4-0 victory at Susquehanna on Oct. 14.
