Drew Dominates Cedar Crest, 70-41

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Drew University women's basketball team never trailed in its contest at Cedar Crest on Friday night.  The Rangers (5-3) led by 13 after one quarter and extended that cushion to as many as 33 points in a dominant 70-41 victory over the Falcons (2-6) at Lees Hall.

Drew scored the first seven points of the game and held a 19-6 advantage after the first quarter.  A pair of layups brought Cedar Crest within nine early in the second quarter before Hailey Stine (Annandale, N.J.) hit a trey to push the margin back to 12 points, 22-10.  A Julia Ramos (Hazlet, N.J.) layup extended the cushion to 17 points at 33-16, and it was 33-18 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Rangers went on a 20-5 run to extend their lead to 30 points, 55-25.  It was 57-30 entering the final period, which Drew started on an 8-2 spurt to open up its largest advantage of the game, a 65-32 cushion with 7:56 left.  The 70-41 triumph was the Rangers' second straight win and fourth wire-to-wire victory of the season.

Moe Davis Campbell (Franklin, N.J.) paced the Rangers with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Michaela Keegan (Mendham, N.J.) added 14 points, while Stine tallied 13 points.  Sarah Henig (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) contributed eight points, and Ramos handed out four assists to go along with three steals.  Michaela McLeod (West Milford, N.J.), meanwhile, secured six rebounds.  Drew shot 39.1 percent (27-of-69) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from long range, and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) at the free throw line.

Meghan Gregory led the Falcons with 16 points.  She added eight rebounds and four blocks.  Sylera Weller had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Geminii Cabrera pulled down eight boards.  Cedar Crest shot 37.8 percent (17-of-45) from the field and outrebounded Drew 41-34.  The Falcons went 2-for-4 (50 percent) from three-point land and 5-for-9 (55.6 percent) at the charity stripe.

After playing four games in seven days, the Rangers will now have nearly two weeks off before returning to action.  Drew heads to Florida for the Daytona Beach Shootout and a 12 p.m. matchup with Carthage (4-3) on Dec. 20.
