WAYNE, N.J. (March 30, 2017) – Junior catcher
Heather Ronchi recorded her 100
th career hit as a member of the Drew University softball team during a doubleheader at William Paterson University, where Drew dropped a pair of 8-0 losses on Thursday.

Ronchi reached the career milestone in her first at-bat in Game 1, a two-out single up the middle in the top of the first inning. The junior captain needed just 88 games to notch hit No. 100 and now sports a career batting average of .347.

With the two losses, Drew falls to 3-11 overall and 0-4 on the road. The Pioneers improve to 8-6 by winning their 2017 home openers.

Ronchi's hit was Drew's only baserunner in Game 1 against WPU starter Gabrielle Castelli, who improved to 5-1 with her six-inning shutout highlighted by three strikeouts and zero walks.

Lauren Mastropierro and senior shortstop
Meghan McGuire, but didn't walk anyone and struck out seven in her five innings of work.
