FORT PIERCE, Fla. (March 6, 2017) – The Drew University baseball team erased an early 4-0 deficit with six unanswered runs to defeat Misericordia University, 6-4, for its fourth consecutive win on Monday at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Training.

The Rangers' fourth straight win runs their overall record to 6-1 as they remain undefeated in Florida. The Cougars, the 2016 MAC Freedom champions and NCAA Tournament qualifier, fall to 2-3 this spring.

Top Performers
• Junior right fielder
Ryan Sabbag was no stranger to the base paths on Monday with a hit and two walks, leading to two runs scored. He delivered a sacrifice fly in the third inning to start the Drew comeback, then sparked the three-run seventh with an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3.
• Senior starting pitcher
Ryan Fitzpatrick struck out 11 in 6.2 innings – his longest outing of the year – allowing just two hits and two walks. Surrendering only one earned run, Fitzpatrick lowered his ERA to 2.16 through three starts.
• Senior closer
Tommy Broyles got the save after recording the final four outs with relative ease. Broyles has started the season with seven scoreless innings on the mound and sees his fourth career save in the books.
• The bottom of the Drew lineup was productive in the win with No. 8 hitter and junior second baseman
Isaiah Mateo going 3-for-4 with a run, and senior center fielder
Marc Cohen batting 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored out of the nine-hole.

The Difference
Drew's three-run seventh completed the comeback and pushed Drew ahead for good. Mateo led off with a single and moved to second after Cohen's well-placed bunt for a base hit. Senior left fielder
Mike DiDonato moved both runners over with a sacrifice to set the stage for two consecutive RBI singles from Sabbag and senior catcher
Mike Miraglia to tied it up 4-4. Drew went ahead with an unearned run on a Misericordia error.

Highlights
• Sophomore first baseman
Joseph Grossane helped the comeback with a sac fly with one out in the sixth to plate Sabbag, who walked to lead off the frame, to set the deficit at 4-2.
• Broyles added an insurance run with a hard lineout to left field that scored Cohen on the sacrifice fly, setting the eventual final score of 6-4.
• Senior pitcher
Patrick Boyle saw his first action of 2017 after recovering from an injury, getting three outs spanning a half-inning without allowing a run. Boyle cleaned up a jam in the bottom of the seventh, allowing a two-out single before getting out of the inning unscathed.
