FORT PIERCE, Fla. (March 8, 2017) – The Drew University baseball offense pounded out 10 hits, while pitching didn't allow an earned run in a 12-2 victory over Kenyon College to run the winning streak to five straight games at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Training.

By the Numbers
The Rangers up their record to 7-1, the best start to a Drew baseball season since 1998 when Drew started 10-1-1. Kenyon starts their season 0-5. Drew's five-game win streak is the longest since winning six in a row in 2013.

• Senior catcher
Mike Miraglia led the offense with a 3-for-3 day at the plate with a double and three runs scored.
• Junior second baseman
Isaiah Mateo went 2-for-2 off Kenyon pitching with three RBIs.
• Seniors
Tommy Broyles and
Jonathan Rodrigues each picked up a hit and two RBIs in the victory, with Rodrigues returning healthy from an injury and creeping closer to the 100 career hit milestone at 94.

The Difference
Sophomore starting pitcher
Harry Cohen made his collegiate debut on the mound and threw effectively over 3.1 innings, allowing five hits and a walk without an earned run and four strikeouts. Freshman
Jeff Serin took over in the fourth and earned the win following 3.2 innings of shutout baseball with four strikeouts and allowing just two hits and a walk.

Highlights
• Drew jumped ahead early and never looked back when Broyles reached on an error for an RBI and the defensive miscue plated a second run for the 2-0 lead.
• Kenyon crept closer in the third with its first run, but Drew quickly tacked on with three in the bottom of the frame on RBIs from Rodrigues, Mateo and senior center fielder
Marc Cohen.
• Rodrigues helped Drew pile on in the fourth with an RBI single for the 8-2 lead before Broyles, sophomore shortstop
Zach Lipshitz and Mateo produced plenty of extra run support for the Rangers' pitchers.
• Sophomore pitchers
Jendy Castillo and
Joshua Williams each threw scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth to seal the win.
