CLERMONT, Fla. (March 8, 2017) – The Drew University women's lacrosse team will be heading North from Florida with suntans and two victories after topping Mount Ida College, 14-3, at the National Training Center on Wednesday afternoon.
By the Numbers
The Rangers cap their two-game stint in the Sunshine State with a 2-0 record and travel back to New Jersey with a 4-1 record on four straight wins. Mount Ida suffers its first loss of the season and fall to 3-1.
Top Performers
• Senior
Theresa Shafron notched her fourth straight multi-goal game with a hat trick against the Mustangs, to go along with one assist. The senior now has 13 goals in her last four games to lead the team in scoring.
• Freshman
Allie DiDario scored in her fourth straight game, netting a career-high three goals in the victory. Her career-high came on four shots, including a 2-for-2 mark on free positions shots.
• Seniors
Morgan Mason and
Kelly Dwyer, and freshman
Jenna Morelli each added two goals.
The Difference
After a low-scoring first half that saw Drew go to intermission with a 5-2 lead, the Rangers came storming out of halftime. Seven straight goals to open the half – highlighted by two DiDario markers – made capped a 9-0 run spanning halftime for a 12-2 lead with 14:12 to play.

• It only took the Rangers and Shafron 38 seconds to score the first goal of the game. DiDario and Dwyer followed for a 3-0 lead just five minutes in with the first of two assists from senior attacker

Sage Johnson and sophomore midfielder
Mia Campanale added goals during the seven-goal surge to open the second half.
• DiDario and junior midfielder
Nicole Kinney led the team in groundballs with six apiece, while Mason controlled a game-high four draws and Johnson led the game with four caused turnovers.
Stat Sheet
• The Rangers teamed up for 36 groundballs, the sixth highest total in program history.
• Five of Drew's tallies came on free position attempts in 13 tries. Drew's defense, meanwhile, was disciplined in the arch and gave up just three free position shots, surrendering one goal.
• Drew dominated the draws 12-4 and the battle for groundballs 36-23.
• The Rangers were successful on 12-of-19 clears, while disrupting Mount Ida's clear attempts for a 10-of-28 grade.
