LEESBURG, Fla. (March 9, 2017) – The Drew University softball team split its doubleheader on Day 4 of the PFX Spring Games in Florida, trouncing the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg 12-0 before falling to Husson University, 8-4.

By the Numbers
The Rangers' record moves to 3-5, with the shutout over Greensboro marking their third straight win. Pittsburgh-Greensburg fell to 4-3, while Husson improved to 6-4.

Top Performers
• The softball appeared to look like a beach ball for sophomore
Bethany Budner, who batted 6-of-7 at the plate on Thursday with two runs and four RBIs.
• Senior starting pitcher
Emma Agostini pitched in both games, picking up the complete game shutout victory over the Bobcats after allowing three hits and three walks over her five innings with three strikeouts to improve to 2-2. She finished off the Husson game by throwing the final 2.2 innings and allowing a run, further lowering her ERA to 2.28 through five appearances.
• Senior center fielder
Phylicia Pellot was 4-for-8 with four runs scored throughout Thursdays doubleheader.
• Junior second baseman
Madi Sheetz belted a home run for her third career hit over the left field fence against Pittsburgh-Greensburg, giving Drew its 12-0 lead in the fourth inning. Earlier in the same game, Sheetz drove home a run with a single.

Game 1 Highlights
• Junior catcher
Heather Ronchi got the day started with a rocket double to the left-center field gap to score Pellot, who led off the game with a single. Budner later cleared the bases with her double before Drew tacked on a fifth run in the frame thanks to a UPG error.
• Junior designated player
Lauren Mastropierro ripped a two-run double to left-center for a 7-0 lead in the second. Five batters later, senior shortstop
Meghan McGuire again cleared the bases with a double for a commanding 11-0 Drew advantage.

Game 2 Highlights
• Mastropierro kept the double streak going in the first inning against Husson, launching a two-bagger over the center fielder's head to plate Pellot, who led off the game once again with a single.
• As the Husson starting pitcher settled down, the Eagles' offense took advantage and chipped away at eight straight runs from the third to sixth innings.
• Drew launched a comeback in the seventh with RBIs from junior left fielder
Brooke Adams and Budner, but the three-run seventh was not enough.
