Pitchers' Duel Tilts in Favor of Keystone, 3-2, at The Doc

MADISON, N.J. (April 12, 2017) – For the second straight night, the Drew University team fell by one run to a team getting votes in the national polls. On Wednesday at Doc Young Field, it was a 3-2 setback to Keystone College that featured a number of standout pitching performances.

By the Numbers: The Rangers and Giants now have matching 15-8 records. Drew falls to 4-6 at The Doc, while Keystone improves to 6-3 on the road and win its second straight game by the same score of 3-2.

Top Performers
• Freshman starting pitcher Jeff Serin took a no-decision on the mound after exiting the game with the score tied 2-2. He allowed eight hits over 5.1 innings of work with three runs and six strikeouts.
• Senior third baseman Jonathan Rodrigues produced a clutch RBI in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, a runner on third and a 1-2 count against him, Rodrigues lined a single to center to plate senior Tommy Broyles, who doubled off the left field hedges on the fly earlier in the inning. Rodrigues finished 2-for-4.
• Keystone reliever Joe DeAngelis was perfect in four innings of relief, sitting down all 12 Rangers he faced to earn the win on the mound.
• Senior catcher Dan Pfefferkorn was one of two Rangers with multiple hits, batting 2-for-4 with a double against Giant pitching.

Highlights
• The pitcher's duel was broken up in the fourth by Keystone, who finally got to Serin with a pair of runs on three hits.
• Drew tied it in the fifth. First, senior left fielder Mike DiDonato rolled an RBI groundout with runners on second and third with one out, followed by Rodrigues' game-tying single later in the inning.
• Sophomore reliever Jendy Castillo was largely effective in 3.2 frames of work, but took the loss by allowing two hits and the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.
