MADISON, N.J. (April 14, 2017) – Moravian College erased a 4-0 deficit with eight unanswered runs to take Game 1 of a three-game Landmark Conference series over the Drew University baseball team, 8-4, on Friday afternoon at Doc Young Field.

By the Numbers: The Rangers drop their third straight game and fall to 15-9 overall and 4-3 in league play. The Greyhounds improve to 11-16 with a 6-5 Landmark record.

Top Performers
• Senior pitcher
Ryan Fitzpatrick turned in a quality start, scattering six hits over 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. The senior, who now ranks third in the Landmark with 53 strikeouts this season, exited the game with the lead in the seventh inning.
• Senior first baseman
Tommy Broyles bat 2-for-5 with a run scored.
• Senior center fielder
Marc Cohen delivered a two-run single in the second, and sophomore shortstop
Zach Lipshitz plated a run with a two-out double in the third.

The Difference: Moravian did the entirety of its damage in the seventh and eighth innings. Down 4-0, the Greyhounds chased Fitzpatrick with four hits before getting a fifth and scoring three runs to trail 4-3 heading to the eighth. Moravian picked up three more hits, and benefitted from a costly throwing error on a play at the plate with the bases loaded and one out to plate five more and take an 8-4 lead.

Matthew Lange was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second. The play scored Broyles, who singled to lead off the inning.
