MADISON, N.J. (April 15, 2017) – Freshman attacker
Seamus O'Connor exploded for a career-high five goals to push the Drew University men's lacrosse team past Moravian College, 10-7, at Ranger Stadium on Saturday.
By the Numbers: The Rangers move to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the Landmark with their first conference victory since April 19, 2014. The Greyhounds drop to 5-6 and 0-4.
Top Performers
• O'Connor's most productive offensive performance came at the perfect time. He scored at least one goal in all four quarters and finished with a career-high six points on five goals and an assist to go with two groundballs.
• Junior attacker
Jack Crowley netted a hat trick, his fourth 3-goal game of the season. He has now scored in 10 of Drew's 11 games and leads the club with 21 goals.
• Freshman midfielder
Kevin Goettlich keeps streaking. With a goal and an assist on Saturday, the rookie has scored a goal in all 11 games to start his college career.
• Senior
Teddy Sweeney made seven saves in net to improve to 5-3 as the goalkeeper of record. Sweeney, who leads the nation in save percentage, also added a groundball in the home win.
The Difference: Each time Moravian got close, Drew had an answer. Tied at 3-3, Crowley put his team ahead late in the third quarter. In the shootout fourth quarter that saw a combined nine goals, the Greyhounds got within one goal twice. However, goals from O'Connor and Crowley helped Drew maintain a cushion down the stretch.
Highlights
• Two tallies from O'Connor sandwiched a man-up goal from sophomore attacker
Ryan D'Alessandro in the first half en route to a 3-1 first half advantage.
• Crowley and O'Connor took turns assisting each other's goals on back-to-back possessions, both with under a minute to play in the third. The run gave the Rangers a 5-3 lead.
• With 8:16 to play and the lead down to 7-6 following two Greyhound goals, the Rangers went on a three-goal run to ice the game. Two Crowley markers sandwiched O'Connor's fifth goal of the game as Drew took a 10-6 lead with four minutes to play.

• Drew barely outshot Moravian, 30-28, but were more accurate with 21 attempts on target compared to the Greyhounds' 14.
• Both sides were great on the clear. Each attempted 20 clears with Drew succeeding 19 times and Moravian making 18.
• Drew held the edge in groundballs, 30-27, but was outmuscled on the faceoff, 12-8.
• The Rangers were 1-for-3 on the man-up and killed off their only penalty of the game, a one-minute infraction in the second quarter.
