HUNTINGDON, Pa. (April 8, 2017) – The Drew University baseball team broke out for 31 runs on 29 hits in a doubleheader sweep at Juniata College in Landmark Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

By the Numbers: The Rangers soundly defeated the Eagles 16-3 and 15-1 in the pair of seven-inning games. Drew ups its overall record to 14-6 to go with a 3-2 mark in league play, while Juniata falls to 5-19 and 0-5.

Top Performers
• Senior
Tommy Broyles led the Rangers from the plate and the mound on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with a run and three RBIs in Game 1 before throwing a complete game for the win on the bump in Game 2. He gave up three hits and zero walks over seven innings, allowing just one run – his first of the season – with six strikeouts.
• Senior center fielder
Marc Cohen batted 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs out of the leadoff spot in Game 1, and added a hit and RBI in Game 2.
• Freshman designated hitter
Matthew Lange belted his first career home run, a three-run shot in the third inning of Game 1 to put Drew ahead 7-0. He finished his breakout day 4-for-7 with four runs and four RBIs.
• Senior catcher
Mike Miraglia drove in two runs in each victory, joining junior second baseman
Isiah Mateo, sophomore shortstop
Zach Lipshitz, senior right fielder
Mike DiDonato and Cohen as the Rangers to record RBIs in both ends of the doubleheader.

The Difference: The Rangers offense made a statement by scoring early and often to raise its record above .500 in the Landmark Conference. Mateo punched the first hit of the day to center field in the top of the first inning in Game 1, and came around to score the first of 31 runs on Saturday.

Game 1 Highlights
• Senior pitcher
Ryan Fitzpatrick improved to 4-1 as a starter this season, throwing five innings of three-run baseball with eight hits, a walk and six strikeouts.
• Juniata scored two in the third to chip away at Drew's 7-0 lead, but the Rangers promptly added to the advantage in the fourth on RBIs from Lipshitz, Cohen, Miraglia and Broyles for the 13-2 lead.

Game 2 Highlights
• Juniata jumped ahead this time, 1-0, in the bottom of the third. It wasn't until the fourth when Drew picked up the momentum from Game 1, pounding out eight hits for eight runs. The Rangers brought 13 batters to plate, with junior right fielder
Ryan Sabbag earning two hits in the frame.
• The Rangers piled on in the sixth and seventh with run-scoring singles from Lipshitz and sophomore third baseman
Eric DiPietro.
