WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 8, 2017) – The Drew University men's tennis team topped The Catholic University of America, 7-2, to win its ninth straight match and start Landmark Conference play undefeated at 3-0.

The Rangers improve to 14-1 overall for its best start in program history through 15 matches. Drew is now 4-0 on the road, while Catholic drops its 2016-17 record to 3-8 and 1-2 in the league.

The doubles teams set the tone on Saturday with a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. Junior Salikh Gilmutdinov and sophomore Will Morrison remain undefeated as a pairing this season at 12-0 following their 8-4 win at first doubles. Sophomore Vineet Vemulapally and freshman Geoffrey Diehl are also unblemished (10-0) partnering up at second singles, including Saturday's 8-2 win over Catholic.

Drew quickly clinched its ninth straight win by dominating singles matches early. Gilmutdinov, Vemulapally, Morrison and Diehl all won in straight sets at spots one through four. Diehl highlighted the run with his second consecutive 6-0, 6-0 score this week.

Freshman Bryce Weizer added a resounding win at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1, for the Rangers' seventh point.

It's a quick turnaround for the Rangers, who take the short trip north to Goucher College for a 1:00 p.m. dual match on Sunday, April 9 looking to remain undefeated in the league.
