HUNTINGDON, Pa. (May 2, 2017) – The fourth-seeded Drew University men's tennis team exited the Landmark Conference Championship in the semifinal round at No. 1 Juniata College, 5-3, on Tuesday.

The Rangers (16-4) finish the season in the Landmark Championship for the first time since 2013. The Eagles advance to the Landmark final on Saturday to take on No. 3 seed Goucher College.

Salikh Gilmutdinov won a pair of playoff matches at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. He finishes his Landmark season undefeated in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the top spot on Tuesday. Gilmutdinov also teamed with sophomore
Will Morrison at second doubles by an 8-6 score.

The difference in the semifinal match was the all-important three doubles matches, which Juniata took 2-1 with a pair of close victories. Sophomore

Geoffrey Diehl fell 8-5 at the top doubles spot, while sophomore
Kevin Shulca and freshman
Bryce Weizer dropped the No. 3 doubles match 8-4.

Down 2-1 after doubles, the top singles players for Drew started the comeback attempt. Following Gilmutdinov's win, Vemulapally took No. 2 singles in a tight three-setter 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2.
