Top Performers
• On the final day of the regular season, sophomore shortstop
Zach Lipshitz had the biggest offensive day of his career by driving in Drew's first three runs in three separate plate appearances and launching his first career home run. He took the second pitch of Game 1 over the left field fence to put Drew up 1-0 in the first, singled home a run for the 2-0 lead in the second, and with the Rangers down 7-2, started the comeback bid with another RBI single in the fourth.
• Joining Lipshitz in the home run party were junior second baseman
Isaiah Mateo, freshman designated hitter
Matthew Lange and senior catcher
Mike Miraglia. The four home runs in a single game rank second all-time in Drew history behind a six-bomb game in 1999.
• The Blue Jay bats only managed four hits in Game 2 against freshman starter
Jeff Serin and junior reliever
Paul Roth, but they were outdueled by Elizabethtown starter Anthony Lippy's complete-game, four-hit shutout.
Â
Game 1 Highlights
• A three-run home run by E-town's Richy Masciarelli erased the early deficit and capped a five-run second inning for the home side. They extended the lead to 7-2 with two more runs in the third.
• The home run parade for the Rangers started in the sixth, when Mateo and Lange hit back-to-back dingers and Drew trailed 7-5. Miraglia made it 7-6 with his third homer of the year to lead off the seventh inning, but it would be Josh Kwak's only run allowed in his fifth save of the season.
• Mateo finished the game 3-for-3, while senior right fielder
Mike DiDonato went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
Â
Game 2 Highlights
• Lippy started the game by retiring the first eight Rangers in order before senior catcher
Dan Pfefferkorn broke the streak with a two-out double in the third.
• Freshman center fielder
Max Felsenstein (2-for-3) and sophomore left fielder
Jayson Mitch (1-for-3) were the only other Drew batters to manage hits against Lippy.
