Drew Falls to FDU-Florham In Battle of Madison

MADISON, N.J. -  The Drew University field hockey team took on local rival FDU-Florham in the annual Battle of Madison on Wednesday night.  It was the Devils (6-2) who came out on top, though, as the Rangers (0-6) suffered a 3-0 defeat at Robert Shields Field.
 
FDU-Florham took the lead on Paige Zawislak's goal in the 23rd minute.  The Devils then increased their advantage to 2-0 early in the second half when Chrissy Penny redirected a cross from Kelly O'Neill.  FDU-Florham added another goal in the 42nd minute to make it 3-0.
 
Ryann Callaghan (Fountain Valley, Calif.) (0-6) made 11 saves for the Rangers, while Michele Pozyc (Clark, N.J.) was credited with a defensive save.  FDU-Florham goalkeeper Samantha Rubin (6-2) recorded one save before giving way to Megan March in the 56th minute.
 
Drew (0-0 Landmark) begins its Landmark Conference schedule on Saturday with a 1 p.m. visit to Elizabethtown (3-4, 0-0 Landmark).
