Rangers Topped By Elizabethtown In Landmark Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -  On Saturday afternoon, the Drew University field hockey team began Landmark Conference play at Elizabethtown.   Playing in unseasonably warm conditions, the Rangers (0-7, 0-1 Landmark) dropped a 5-0 decision to the Blue Jays (4-4, 1-0 Landmark) at Wolf Field.
 
Elizabethtown scored four times in a 16-minute span in the first half.  The Blue Jays then added another in the 70th minute, as Olivia Beachley registered her second goal of the game.
 
Ryann Callaghan (Fountain Valley, Calif.) (0-7) recorded 17 saves to raise her conference-leading total to 95 for the season.  Michele Pozyc (Clark, N.J.), meanwhile, picked up a defensive save for the third consecutive game. 
 
Margo Dolin and Hannah Mack split time in goal for Elizabethtown, with Donlin (4-4) receiving credit for the win.  Beachley scored twice, while Emma Christman and Allie Patterson each posted a goal and an assist for the Blue Jays.
 
Drew returns to Ranger Stadium next Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup with Moravian (1-7, 0-1 Landmark).  It will be the Rangers' "Vs. Cancer" game to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
