Moravian Bests Drew 2-0

MADISON, N.J. -  The Drew University field hockey team returned to Ranger Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a Landmark Conference matchup with Moravian.  After a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds (2-8, 1-1 Landmark) tallied two goals in a 78-second span in the second half to notch a 2-0 win over the Rangers (0-8, 0-2 Landmark).

Prior to the game, the Rangers collected funds for the Vs. Cancer Foundation, which combats children's cancer along with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  Donations are still being accepted on Drew's team page.

Moravian outshot Drew 9-1 in the first half, but Ryann Callaghan (Fountain Valley, Calif.) made four saves to keep the contest scoreless at the break.  In the 53rd minute, the Greyhounds broke the deadlock when Olivia Schlofer deflected Elizabeth Hrehovcik's shot into the left side of the net.  Schlofer scored again off a penalty corner 78 seconds later to increase Moravian's advantage to 2-0.

Drew had a late flurry, turning a penalty corner in the 66th minute into a pair of shots that were stopped by Moravian goalkeeper Ashley Kunsman.  The Rangers continued their push in the 68th minute, but Camryn Koch's (Hellertown, Pa.) attempt was wide and Kate Todero (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) had her shot blocked, and Moravian held on for the 2-0 victory.

Koch tallied three shots for the Rangers, while Callaghan (0-8) made eight saves to push her season total to 103.  Schlofer scored both Moravian goals, and Kunsman (2-8) was credited with four saves.

This was Drew's only home contest in a five-game span.  The Rangers play the first of three straight road games on Tuesday night, when they visit DeSales (7-3) at 7 p.m.
