Bryn Mawr Pulls Away From Field Hockey

MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University field hockey team battled Bryn Mawr College to a 1-1 tie through the first period, but the Owls scored a pair of second-half goals to hand the Rangers a 3-1 setback in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at a blustery Ranger Stadium.

How it Happened: Bryn Mawr (8-6) never trailed after scoring less than a minute into the contest. However, Drew rallied to tie the game when freshman Mallory Holson buried her first collegiate goal, converting a centering pass from classmate Jinah Cappuccino with just under 16 minutes left in the half. But the Owls pulled away in the second half, scoring on a pair of rebounds 17 minutes apart.

Stats Sheet: Bryn Mawr outshot the Rangers 15-3 and placed 12 shots on frame. However, senior Ryann Callaghan helped keep her team within striking distance, making nine saves. The Owls also finished with a 7-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Up Next: Drew returns to the field on Saturday, when it hosts Juniata College at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
