MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University field hockey team battled Sage College into a second overtime, but with 1:41 left and the score tied 2-2 the game was suspended due to lightning. The two sides will attempt to complete game at a later date.
Key Moment: The Rangers trailed 2-1 with just under 10 minutes left in regulation when freshman
Hanna Cohen Jehoram blasted home her first collegiate goal, which eventually forced OT. Freshman
Carly Schiller started the play with a corner pass to the top of the circle, where Cohen Jehoram delivered a well-struck ball into the back of the cage. Neither side managed another shot in regulation.
Bonus Play: Drew turned up the heat in overtime, when four players come off the field for 7-on-7 action. The Rangers outshot the Gators 6-3 in the first extra session, but that's when Abigale Greier made five saves for the visitors. Drew also took the only two shots in the second overtime, but they were both turned aside by Greier.
Early Goals: Senior
Kate Todero scored the game's opening goal for Drew, tapping in a shot in front of the cage for her second tally of the season. Freshman
Jinah Cappuccino set up the goal with a pass from the right side of the arc to earn her first career assist and point. However, Sage rallied with a pair of first-half goals to assume a 2-1 lead at the intermission, and that's how the score would remain until Cohen Jehoram's equalizer.
Stats Sheets: It was an evenly-played game in regulation, when Drew held a 7-5 shot advantage. But after 18 minutes of overtime, the Rangers were outshooting the Gators 15-8 and held a 9-4 advantage in corners. Greier had 10 saves at the time the game was suspended while senior
