MONTCLAIR, N.J. - Drew outscored Albertus Magnus College in the first and third quarters, but the Falcons used a big second quarter to hand the Rangers an 83-67 setback in the first round of the Drew University Larry Horner C'40 Rose City Classic Saturday evening at Montclair State University.
Turning Point: Drew (1-1) led 25-17 at the end of the first quarter, only to see the Falcons (2-0) erupt for 30 second-quarter points to open up a 47-31 lead at the break. The Rangers pulled to within six (55-49) with 3:28 left in the third quarter after freshman forward
Sekya Campbell hit six straight free throws, but that's as close as it would get. Drew trailed 67-54 at the end of the third quarter and was unable to get closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Top Performers: Campbell finished with 16 points and six rebounds while shooting 8-for-8 at the foul line. Sophomore forward

Hailey Stine, and freshman guard
Brooke Timinski all netted 12 points, with stine shooting 4-for-7 from 3-point range and Timinski knocking down 4-of-5 shots from distance. Sophomore guard
Julia Ramos handed out five assists.
Stat Sheet: Albertus Magnus shot 51.7 percent from the field while the Rangers shot 34.4 percent. The Falcons posted a big rebounding advantage (49-29) en route to 44 points in the paint and 17 second-chance points. Drew shot 82.4 percent (14-for-17) at the foul line and held a 24-4 advantage in bench points.
Up Next: The Rangers face Montclair State in the tournament consolation game, to be held on Sunday at noon back at Montclair. St. Lawrence University defeated Montclair 46-44 in the other first-round game.
