Women’s Hoops Tops New Rochelle

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Four Rangers scored in double figures and the Drew University women's basketball team pulled away over the final three quarters for a 66-34 non-conference victory over the College of New Rochelle Wednesday evening at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Senior guard Hailey Stine led all players with 15 points on 5-of-11 3-point shooting for the Rangers (5-2), who won their fourth game in a row.
 
How it Happened: Drew fell behind 12-10 at the end of the first quarter but took control over the rest of the way, when it outscored the Blue Angels 56-22. The Rangers outscored New Rochelle 15-4 in the second quarter to assume a nine-point halftime advantage and continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring the Angels 41-18.
 
Top Performers: In addition to Stine, several Rangers also turned in big performances. Freshman forward Sekya Campbell notched 12 points and nine rebounds while senior forward Sarah Henig contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high five steals while shooting 5-for-5. Sophomore Erin Frederick pitched in with 10 points and five rebounds while sophomore guard Julia Ramos registered a strong all-around game with five points, nine assists, and a career-high-tying eight steals.
 
Stat Sheet: Drew shot 41.0 percent for the game while holding New Rochelle to 23.0 percent shooting. The Rangers forced the Blue Angels into 31 turnovers, leading to 23 points, and held a 46-37 rebound advantage.
 
Next Up: The Rangers resume their schedule on Friday, when they take on Cedar Crest College at 7 p.m. back at Saint Elizabeth.
