Drew Dominant In Victory at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After posting its first shutout in four years on Thursday afternoon, the Drew University women's lacrosse team followed up that performance by allowing just two goals on Saturday.  The Rangers (7-4, 1-1 Landmark) earned their first Landmark Conference victory of the season with an 18-2 triumph over Juniata (3-6, 0-2 Landmark) at Gibbel Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

Drew wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, winning the opening draw and capping the game's first possession with a Lauren Cassella (Edison, N.J.) goal after just 31 seconds of play.  The Rangers added two more quick tallies and led 3-0 barely a minute in.  After Juniata's Natalie Gibson found the back of the net to make it 3-1, Drew ended the first half with 10 unanswered tallies.

Leading 13-1 at the break, the Rangers added two more early in the second half to increase their cushion to 15-1.  The final margin was 18-2, as Drew scored 18 goals for the second straight game and the fourth time this season.

Mia Campanale (Branchburg, N.J.) took six shots, and they all went for goals.  Allie DiDario (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) had three goals and an assist to go along with seven draw controls, three ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Jenna Morelli (Monroe Township, N.J.) also tallied three goals and an assist while adding six ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Charly Nolting (Craik, Sask.) and Cassella each recorded a hat trick, as well.  Sage Johnson (Timonium, Md.), meanwhile, registered 10 draw controls, four ground balls and three assists.

Goalkeeper Katiana Michalski (Eastchester, N.Y.) (7-4) picked up two ground balls and made one save.  Drew outshot Juniata 32-6, including a 28-3 edge in shots on goal, and held an 18-3 advantage on draws.  The Rangers also picked up 29 ground balls to the Eagles' 18.

Lauren Rowe scored the other Juniata goal, and she added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.  Mina Witt led the Eagles with six ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls.  In addition to tallying 10 saves, Isabella Medaris (3-6) picked up a pair of ground balls.

The Rangers will now have a week off before returning to action.  Drew visits Elizabethtown (6-4, 2-0 Landmark) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
