Rangers Knock Off Moravian In Season Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drew University men's tennis team (13-5, 3-4 Landmark) wrapped up its 2017-18 campaign with a dominant 9-0 win over Moravian (3-10, 0-7 Landmark) at the Hoffman Courts on Wednesday. With the victory, the Rangers snapped their three-match losing streak.

In doubles action, Vineet Vemulapally (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Will Morrison (San Diego, Calif.) earned a hard-fought 8-6 triumph over Peter Demyan and Isaac Schefer in the No. 1 position. Bryce Kennedy (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Karel Raska (Morristown, N.J.) shut out Chris Csencsits and Mason Hudnall, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, while Chris Morville (Branchville, N.J.) and Bryce Weizer (Orwigsburg, Pa.) completed the sweep with an 8-4 win over Sean Kearns and Mike Palmeri.

Raska didn't drop a game in singles, either, as he defeated Palmeri 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. At No. 3 singles, Kennedy earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Austin Grace, while Vemulapally and Lloyd Goldstein (New Providence, N.J.) each notched a 6-1, 6-1 triumph. Vemulapally defeated Demyan in the No. 1 position, while Goldstein knocked off Kearns at No. 6 singles. In the No. 5 singles match, Weizer beat Hudnall by a 6-2, 6-2 count. No. 2 Morrison, meanwhile, rallied to top Schefer 6-2, 7-6, winning the second-set tiebreak 7-3.

Drew was originally set to conclude the season by hosting Hunter on Wednesday. However, that match has been cancelled due to the forecast of inclement weather.
