MADISON, N.J. – Drew University struck for the game's opening goal, but Delaware Valley University rallied with the final two tallies and the Aggies edged the Rangers 2-1 in non-conference field action Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.
Turning Point: Del Val's Courtney Austin provided the game-winning goal, driving inside the circle and ripping a shot into the left side of the cage with 14:13 remaining in the game. Neither side was able to get off another shot the rest of the way.
First-Half Goals: The Rangers controlled possession early in the game and were awarded a succession of penalty corners 11 minutes into the contest. The third time was the charm, as freshman
Carly Schiller tipped in a deflected save off the pads of the keeper for her first collegiate goal. Junior
Mackenzie Hascup initiated the goal with a rip from the top of the circle. Delaware Valley pulled even with 15:14 left in the opening period, as Madi Colon drilled in a shot from the right side of the cage off a scrum following a corner.
Between the Pipes: Senior
Ryann Callaghan made a huge save for the Rangers with 25:40 left in regulation, diving to her right to knock down a penalty stroke from Aimee McFarland and keep the score knotted at 1-all. She finished with two saves while Del Val's Rosie Bishop made one stop.
Stats Sheet: Delaware Valley finished with advantages in shots (9-3) and penalty corners (6-5).
